A
Nutritional - feeding tube
Dialysis
Ventilators

How is the decision to withdraw treatment made
A
Advance decision
-will be followed if you lose capacity
If advance decision not made or it does not cover these circumstances
-best interests discussion with HCT, family, LPA
If agreement not made => Court of Protection

Which patients would be considered to approaching EoL
A
Likely to die within 1 year
- advanced, progressive, incurable conditions
- general frailty + coeexisting conditions
- existing conditions if they are at risk of dying from a sudden acute crisis
- life threatening acute conditions caused by sudden catastrophic events
- extremely premature neonates with poor prognosis
- permanent vegetative state
