What is “Terroir”?
Terroir is the “sense of place” a wine gives when you drink it.
Encompasses the factors that effect wine in its production.

What age group drinks wine the most often?
Ages 50-60yrs consuming around 35% and are 30% likely to share at a group
Ages 40-50yrs consuming around 20% and are 30% likely to share at a group
Ages 60-70 consume around 20% (growing) and are 50% likely to share at a group
Ages 30-40yrs consume around 16% and are 20% likely to share at a group
How is wine advertised?
Wine is advertised very little compared to other alcohol. Advertising spend sits at about 5% of total spend.
What wines are trending up?
Natural, organic, low intervention wines are on the rise.
Fresh/acidic wines like Sauv Blanc, Rose, and Sparkling wine is becoming more popular.
New packaging is also becoming a factor. Cans, mini bottles, and fun labels/names

What is a Tannin?
A bitter substance that naturally forms in bark, leaves, and plants. It is what causes red to have a dry and earthier flavor.
What is decanting and what does it do to the wine?
Decanting is used for red wines. The purpose of this is to separate sentiment and bring out the wines aromas and scents
What temperature should wine be stored at?
A cool 55 degrees is most ideal. This is why most people with wine collections keep it in their cellar. However, whites are served 45-50, Sparkling at 35-40, and Reds 60-65
How long does a bottle last when it’s opened
Reds with very heavy tannins and have not been decanted can last up to 5 days. However 2-3 days is ideal for other types.
How do you know when wine has gone bad?
The wine will not have a good aroma. Usually a burnt, musty, even sour scent is common.
What is the difference between Old World and New World wine?
The simple answer is Old World is Europe and New World is everything else. Europe created wine so Old World is considered France, Italy, Germany while New World is considered The US, Australia, New Zealand, ect. There are exceptions to this but it isn’t common.
