workgroup vs domains
specifies how user resources are manages on the network
workgroup (home/small office) stored on local pc and users control access to resources
domain (server) will control user accounts and shared resources on the network. domain name is
(name).(something)
homegroups
for older versions of windows; does the same thing as the newer workgroup
windows network connections
wired and wireless and vpns
sharing network folders and printers
to access a shared folder on the network, in the run console \computer name
net use
command used to map drives(share folders) to computers in command console
net use driveletter: \computer name\shared folder.
In order to share a folder over the network, it must be designated by the user
printer sharing
within printer properties there will be an option to share said printer over the network. Using the same principle as connecting to a share folder will show the printer being shared by the reveinving party
remote desktop
allows to remotely connect to a pc and administer to it/use it as if physically present at connected pc
on windows 10 under system, there is an option for remote desktop
blocks screen
remote assistance
all the principles of remote desktop but allows the client user to see the screen
mstsc
microsoft terminal service console, built in program that allows us to connect using ip address and user credentials
