A

Before the 16th century there were no horses so the Indians hunted on foot.
With horses Indians could Kill more Buffalo
By the 19th century guns were sold to the Indians which helped with hunting

A

Food- buffalo meat could be preserved by drying and dried buffalo dung was used as cooking fuel
Clothing – Buffalo skins provided clothes and shoes
Shelter- the teepees were made of buffalo hide

A

Mountain men killed animals for so so it could be sold at a high price. The Indians also killed animals to sell to the mountain men for trade.
The mountain men told people in the east there was a lot of good farming land available.

There was minimal employment

A

The 1862 Homestead act give free land of 160 acres providing they lived for 5 years on it.
Railway companies wanted to sell land near the railroads
Indians had been cleared off the land and put in reservations

A

They have to build a house without wood.
Water was scarce
The climate was extreme
Fuel was very expensive.

A

Native Americans were Israeli tribes who were punished by having their skin dyed red by God for being violent

1831 Ohio the Mormons were bankrupt and driven out
1837 Missouri they were attacked by mobs
1839 Illinois Smith was killed by mobs and the group was attacked
1847 great salt lake city no one had lived there before
