Wideband Antennas Flashcards
What do wideband antennas attempt to do?
Low VSWR
Constant Beamwidth
Constant Gain
All of these depend on Lamda
What are three wideband antenna structures?
Log-Periodic Array
Archimedean Spiral
Conical Spiral
Consists of a series of dipole elements arranged along a boom or support structure, with the lengths of the dipoles progressively and logarithmically increasing or decreasing in size along the array.
Log Periodic Array Antenna
“A conductive spiral trace etched onto a substrate or formed as a wire structure, with the spiral shape defined by the mathematical equation of an Archimedean spiral. Has a circular polarization.”
As the spiral elements get larger, the wavelength increases, covering a wide bandwidth.
“Spiral-shaped radiating element”
