why did the dual authority emerge ?
A
because no single group could control Russia after the February revolution

where did the PGs members come from and who did they represent?
A
its members came from liberal and moderate political elite eg. Prince Lvov and Alexander Kerensky. They represented parties like the Kadets (liberals) and were committed to gradual reform.

who did the Petrograd Soviet represent and what was its purpose?
A
it represented workers, soldiers and socialist revolutionaries. its purpose was to defend interest of ordinary people.

why did the arrangement of the dual authority exist?
A
because the PG needed the soviets backing to maintain order but the soviet didn’t want to take full responsibility for governing.
