  • a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s thought, mood, and behaviour
  • it reflects a dysfunction in various processes
  • its associated with significant stress/disability in different types of activities

  • no hard science
  • no context of a person being diagnosed
  • more symptom/ experience focused
  • doesn’t address treatment/therapy
  • DSM is constantly changing

  • they’re essentially decided by a group of people
  • there’s a lot of bias
  • context is super important
  • it’s very subjective
