1) Development of mass media has meant direct action can attract the attention of millions. Media is interested in dramatic protests (dramatic protests, stunts etc)
2nd reason direct action has increased in recent years
2) Modern communications, internet and social media have made it easier to organise direct action and many can get involved quickly without formal membership of a group.
3rd reason direct action has increased in recent years
3) Growth of movements without great amounts of money or status who use direct action to get attention and grow.
