Many Americans believed in the domino theory which suggested if one country fell to communism then it’s surrounding countries would follow.
What was President Truman facing pressure for? What did this lead to?
President Truman was facing pressure at home for being weak on communism especially the Republicans and senator McCarthy. This increased pressure on him to act decisively to the invasion of South Korea by communist North Korea in June 1950. The US became directly involved because they feared the invasion was part of a wider communist plan to gain control of all of Asia.
