Why is the West Bank under Israeli rule ?
Because post the six day war in 1967, Jordan was offered back its territory, but declined the offer, yet peace was still established between the two
Why did Israel give back Sinai and to who?
To Egypt. Sinai an area five times the size of Israel with oil was given back after it was conquered the six day war in order to achieve peace with Egypt
Why can’t Jews pray on their holiest site (the Temple Mount)
In order to not upset the Muslims whose mosque is built on top of it
Why did Jews say the phrase “Next year in Jerusalem” throughout thousands of years in the diaspora?
In the eternal hope and faith that Jews would one day return to their ancestral homeland, always keeping Jerusalem in their hearts
Why did Israel strike first during the six day war ?
Egyptians Soldiers were being lined up along the borders and the UN pulled out of the buffer zone giving the green light for Israel to be attacked. Israel launched for the first and only time in its history a preemptive strike.
Why is the six-day war regarded a watershed moment in history ?
During 6 days, the IDF managed to triple the size of Israel.
Why are Orthodox Jews exempt from their army duty ?
Because under the law, if you are orthodox you must be given the time to your dedicated study in an effort to making Israel a home for every Jew no matter the religious background
Why is there no public transport on Shabbat ?
Because according the Torah, no light must be lit on Shabbat.
