A

Inspired attempts at revolution (Bandera brothers in calabria). Could not be accessed by peasants (Illiterate, 2/3 are at this time), so his want for peasants to be involved in rev was unlikely.

A

Pope relied on Austria for military power + has little to gain as protestantism on rise in Europe, does not want to unsettle it. Popular amongst moderates, as kept individual power in states.

A

House of Savoy used, as free from Austrian ties. Wanted a federation + Piedmontese king to lead it, as Piedmont has army necessary to have foreign domination (believed Austria holding Italy back). Did not want to inspire peasants, saw them as uneducated ect.
