Describe what is meant by the trainers ability to “teach”.
- To effectively articulate and teacher mechanics of each movement.
- To focus on major parts of performance before more subtle ones.
- The ability to change instruction based on the athletes needs and capacity.
Describe what is meant by the trainers ability to “see”.
- the ability to recognise good from poor movement mechanics.
- to identify both big and subtle faults whether the athlete is moving or static.
Describe what is meant by the trainers ability to “correct.”
- the ability to facilitate better mechanics for an athlete using visual, verbal, and/or tactile cues.
- the ability to prioritise faults in order of importance, which includes an understanding of how multiple faults are related.
Why does a trainer often need multiple strategies for each fault?
Because different athletes often respond to the same cue in a different manner.

- showing empathy for athletes and creating a rapport.
