Why is it “Столе” instead of “Стол”?
Because of the preposition на. Russian has six cases and this one is the prepositional.
Prepositional form: feminine nouns ending in ь
it takes -и
Prepositional form: nouns ending in -ия, -ий or -ие
it takses -и
Prepositional form: all other nouns
it takses -е
