Q

what must be done following AWD?

A

it is essential to inspect the instrumentation
with the use of an illuminated magnifier.

6
Q

why do manual and ultrasonic instead of WD sometimes?

A

The force exerted by the Ultrasonic energy can be greater and get to, hardto-reach places (hinges/box-joints)

Scrubbing something with the correct brush can exert more force than the water jets within the WD

7
Q

why reprocess in WD?

A

The reason for this is the high temperatures and contact time achieved during the DISINFECTION part of the automated cycle

The cleaning process can be reinforced by utilising manualand ultrasonic processes as it is essential that all biological matter/proteins/bodily fluids are removed entirely

The disinfection stage kills and removes the largest proportion of microbes making instrumentation much safer to be handled and inspected

Q

what is temp and minimum stage hold time and what is minimum contact rate?

what do you do after this?

A

Although temperatures of between 90 – 95 degrees Celsius have been achieved for a minimum stage hold-time of 1 minute, allowing the minimum contact rate of 12 seconds, there are still pathogens that have the capability to survive

steam sterilisation to render product free from viable microorganisms

Q

what is diff between wrapped and unwrapped for steam steriliser?

A

If instruments are wrapped
They will be sterile after the process
(B-Type Steriliser, Vacuum Capable)

If instruments are un—wrapped they will
Just have ‘been sterilised’
(N-Type Steriliser, Gravity Displacement)
