It is about a young boy who is always seeing how hard his father works and shows that he wants to do a similar job as him, however the young boy is very clumsy and always falling over his fathers equipment ‘ I was a nuisance, tripping, falling, yapping always’ however once he is all grown up, it is his father that becomes the nuisance in his old age ‘it is my father who keeps stumbling behind me and will not go away’

It is about unrequited love and it is implied that he is unsatisfied by love. The poet questions what love really is. It is about a romantic lovers playful argument. The relationship is also seen as innocent.
