Conflict is something that is inherent in human activities. It is omnipresent and foreordinated
A perceived divergence of interest or a belief that the parties current aspirations cannot be achieved simultaneously
Weeks describes conflict as an outgrowth of the diversity that characterises our thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, perceptions and social systems and structures
What is the nature of conflict?
It involves two or more people
There is a struggle over actual or perceived oppositions of needs, values and interests
It involves the use of force
Can be either positive and functional or negative and dysfunctional
Intra-conflict
Happens internally, whether between members in the same group or personally
Intra-personal conflict
Arises within a person
Intra-group conflict
Conflict between people in the same group or team
Intra-state conflict
Conflict between or among one or more advantaged or disadvantages minority group or majority groups to gain a greater share of limited resources or control or autonomy or both pver territorial state
