What is a cell structure? Flashcards
What is a cell structure?
The structural and functional unite of life. Simplest organization in the living system and is capable to exist on its own
Cell membrane
layer of fat which bounds the cell and controls what goes in and out. present in animal and plant
Cell Wall
gives a permanent shape in the plant cell and made up of cellulose. Protects cell and prevents them from taking too much water
Cytoplasm
clear jelly surrounding the cell membrane with all the cell organelles in it.
Nucleus
formation store of cell and contains chromosomes made of DNA. Helps produce the right amount of protein.
Chromosomes
Long thing double strand of DNA and cant be seen unless the cells divide and they become short and thick
Nuclear membrane
double membrane bounding the Nucleus
Mitochondria
organelle is present in all cells except prokaryotes and is the site where oxygen used to release energy from glucose.
What is aerobic reparation
a site where energy is released energy from the glucose
Vacuole
membrane bound solution called cell sap and made up of sugar. Large and permanent
Ribosomes
tiny structures found in either cytoplasm of attached to the ER they are present in all cells and play a role in protein synthesis by joining amino acids.
ER
consists of flattered cavities helping with the transporting intra cellular materials. Found in all cells but prokaryotes lacks it
Golgibody
responsible for sorting packs
Chloroplast
responsible for photosynthesis, contains chlorophyll and absorbs energy from the sun along with CO and H20 to produce carbs
Cell organisation
multicellular organisms are made of many cells and they differ in forms depending of their role
Tissue
group of cells specialized to perform specific function which are grouped together and called tissue
Organ
different tissues coming together to perform a function
Organ system
organs coming together to make a system
