What friction is Flashcards
What is friction?
Friction is a contact force that resists motion.
How is friction created?
It is created when an object slides over the surface of another.
How is static electricity formed?
It can be generated by friction when two objects are rubbed together, causing the electrons to move from one object to another.
What is force?
A force is a push or a pull.
If the direction of motion is to the left, at what direction does the friction force act/move to?
To the right due to friction resisting motion and always acting opposite to it.
Can friction produce heat?
Yes, when rubbing your palms together, the friction produces heat and makes your palms warm up.
There’s a moving car on a rough road and a moving car on a cemented highway. Which will move slower and which will move faster?
The car on the rough road will move slower while the car on the cemented highway will move faster.
