What is a primary source?
A primary source is a source that comes directly from the past. For example a diary, a newspaper or an eyewitness account.
What are sources?
Sources are evidence that help historians find out what happened in the past.
What is a secondary source?
A secondary source is evidence that comes from a later date, for example history books, films or documentaries. They are written after the event.
What is prehistory?
Prehistory is the period before writing was used.We use archaeology to get evidence from this period.
What is history?
The historic period is when writing was used.For example we know a lot about the monks in early Christian Ireland because they wrote manuscripts.
What is bias?
Historians are biased if they favour one side over the other.
What is propaganda?
Propaganda is using information to influence people’s opinions.
What is chronology?
Chronology is putting events in the order of time.
