Long-acting reversible contraceptive first-line, including for adolescents and nulliparous people
Couple with 1 or more children
intrauterine system
Diabetes, HTN, co-morbidity, hyperlipidaemia

NOT COCP or transdermal patch or injection
Lactating mother
progesterone pill or implant, IUD or IUS
Postpartum period
progesterone pill or implant or injection, IUD or IUS (coil within 48hrs of birth)
Couple completed family
vasectomy, sterilisation, copper coil or IUS, implants
Adolescents
Long-acting methods preferred!!!

Older women with CVD risk
sterilisation, Copper coil, POP NOT – COCP, transdermal patch
Couple having RTI (reproductive tract infection)
– NOT -IUD or IUS
Mother with psychiatric disorder
non- hormonal options
Dis-motivated, illiterate women
copper coil or other long-term options like IUS, injectables or implants
Highly motivated literate woman
Patient preference - POP with shorter window likely ok
Mother on TB drugs – TB drugs rifampicin.
progesterone-only injectables or IUS or IUD
. H/O ectopic pregnancy
progestin-only contraceptives may be more likely to result in ectopic pregnancies than some other methods such as combined hormonal and barrier contraceptives.
