What are the SDGs?
The Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.
What SDGs are most relevant for hotel companies?
The UNWTO says tourism is directly linked to Goal 8, 12 and 14; however, it is indirectly linked to other goals. For example, hotels need to be a part of global climate action, which is evident in the net-zero commitments that are being made by corporations.
