What Affects Climate Flashcards
What is Altitude?
The sun heats the ground that then expels that heat into the air particles. However, the higher up the air, the less warmth the particles gain causing reduced temperatures and oxygen levels. Temperature decreases by 1° every 100m in latitude.
What is Seasonality?
Places at higher latitude have more of a seasonal change throughout the year. This is because the Earth is tilting at a 23.50° angle.
What is continentality?
In Winter areas that are close to the sea/coast are hotter in the Winter but cooler in Summer. Places further away from the coast are hotter in summer because the land heats up quickly but colder in the winter as they do not have the insulation from the sea.
