1770-1818 explorer of the Louisiana territory with Meriwether Lewis. He was brothers of George Rodgers Clark.

Who was Thomas Jefferson?
1743-1826 third president of the united states from 1809. He was the author of the Declaration of the Independence and was responsible for the Louisiana Purchase.

1787?- 1812 (They think 1787) shoshone translator for the Lewis and Clark expedition from 1805 to 1806.
Napoleon Bonaparte
1769-1821 Emperor of France who sold the Louisiana territory to the United States in 1803.

A word used by settlers to describe land beyond there settlements.

The territory purchased by the United States from 1803, reaching from the Mississippi River to the rocky mountains and from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada
