Explorer of the Louisiana Territory with Meriwether Lewis. He was the brother of George Rogers Clark
Meriwether Lewis
United States army officer and scout who explored the Louisiana Territory with William Clark from 1803 to 1806.
Thomas Jefferson
1743-1826. Third President of the U.s from 1801 to 1809. He was the author of the Declaration of Independence and responsible for the Louisiana Purchase.
Sacagawea
1787?-1812. Shoshone translator for the Lewis and Clark expedition from 1805-1806.
Napoleon Bonaparte
1769-1821. Emperor of France who sold the Louisiana Territory to the United States.

A word used by settlers to describe land beyond their settlements

The territory purchased by the United States from France in 1803, reaching from the MIssissippi River to the Rocky Mountains and from the Golf of Mexico to Canada

An area set aside for the Native Americans

A person who creates a path, usually to make a home and lead a settlement
