What was the meaning of the idea of manifest destiny?
O’Sullivan said God had destined the United States to possess the entire continent, extending the United States boundaries all the way to the Pacific Ocean

Democrat, James Polk defeated wig Henry Clay in the election, because he believed America should take over the Oregon territory. And increase American land generally.
