At Little Bighorn in 1876 the army went to war with the Lakota and Cheyenne, Custer attacked an Indian encampment, the settlement was partially hidden by hills and Custer was outnumbered 10 to 1, Custer and his troops the 7th Cavalry were killed, and then the Lakota escaped to Canada

A

The Sand Creek Massacre was the massacre when Chivington’s men massacred all in the camp of Black Kettle’s Camp. Scalps and various body parts of the victims were taken by members of the militia as trophies.
