WEP & Circular Motion Definitions Flashcards
Work done
Work done by a force is defined as the product of the force and displacement in the direction of the force
Joule
1 joule is defined as the work done when a force of 1 newton moves its point of application by 1 metre in the direction of the force
Principle of conservation of energy
The principle of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed in any process, it can be transferred from one form to another, and transferred from one system to another, but the total amount remains constant
Power
Power is defined as the work done per unit time
One watt
One watt is defined as the power when one joule of work is done per second
Radian
One radian is defined as the angle subtended at the centre of a circle by an arc equal in length to the radius of the circle
Angular velocity
An angular velocity is defined as the rate of change of angular displacement
