Well water quality Flashcards
Why does the well water quality varies?
Wells have proven to be particularly problematic in areas where the bedrock contains unusual amounts of natural minerals. -> solubility to water.
Why should well water always be examined?
Well water should always be examined if the water is suspected to cause health symptoms or if its color, taste or smell has changed substantially.
Should the quality of well water be evaluated?
The water quality must always be examined before the well is put into operation.
Immediately after the well has been made, there are deposits due to construction and new structures, which are reduced when water is used.
When should well water especially be examined?
When a child is about to emerge in the family, because of possible fluoride, radon, nitrate and nitrite (you cannot taste em).
Fluoride affects tooth formation, and nitrate and nitrite on infant oxygen intake.
What are the quality requirements in well water (microbiological and chemical)?
Social and health ministry microbiological quality requirements:
Escherichia coli
Enterococci of intestinal origin
Social and health ministry chemical quality requirements :
Arsenic Fluoride Nitrate Nitrite etc.
