What was article 48
It was a law that allowed the president to suspend the constitution in an emergency. He could make laws and keep chancellor in office without the support of the Reichstag.

Chosen by the President. Had to have support of a majority of the Reichstag

Elected every four years.
More important than the Reichsrat. Could make laws.
Chancellor had to have support of majority of its members

18 German states.
Could not make laws, but could approve laws proposed by the Chancellor and the Relehstag.
Proportional Representation (weakness)
Each party got the same percentage of seats in the Reichstag compared to the percentage of votes they got in an election.
But the problem was with so many parties it was hard to make decisions as they all wanted different things .
Bill of rights
This guaranteed every German citizen freedom of speech, religion and equality under law.
Democratic Germany (weakness)
Many were suspicious of the Weimar because Germany had never been in a democracy.
And many extremist parties rejected the idea which lost some of the country’s support
