What are ethics?
Ethics can be defined as beliefs about what is right conduct.
Ethics are moral principles adopted by a group or an individual to provide rules for right conduct.
Ethics represents the ideal standards set by a profession.
They are enforced by professional associations and government boards that regulate them.
What is the regulatory body for psychologists?
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
All registered psychologists must abide by?

Examples of good standards of practice?
· Professional competence.
· Good relationships with clients and colleagues.
· Observance of professional ethics.
· Engage in regular, ongoing supervision.
· Engage in regular and ongoing professional development.
· Develop and use good self-care practices.
· Be aware of professional and personal limits.
The Code of Ethics
Divided into these three sections and govern the behaviour of psychologists within these three principles.
· Respect for the rights and dignity of people and peoples

Why do we need to have such strict standards to guide behaviour?

Ethical decision making model?

- Review and evaluate the outcome
