What is a combining form?
This is created when a word root is combined with a vowel. The vowel (combining vowel) is usually an ‘o’ or an ‘i’.

What is a word root?
The basic foundation of a word, to which component parts are added. The stem or base of a word. All medical words have at least ONE word root.
What is a suffix?
A word element attached at the end of the word root. All medical words have a suffix.
What is a prefix?
A word element added at the beginning of the word. Not always a part of medical words!
What is an eponym?
A name for a disease, organ, procedure or body function that is derived from the name of a person.
