profound multiple disabilities
in wheelchair
need support with everything eating and drinking
-physical disablitliy
what is the reason for having a lower life expectancy?
-as the disability is easy to mask so may not get the support they need
-due to co-morbidity
what are some symptoms of autism?
-sensory overload
-may struggle with emotions
-fixate on things and repetitive behaviour
-everyone will present differently
what are the key facts autism?
-About 1 in 100 children have autism (WHO, 2022)
-Autism is a lifelong condition.
-Characteristics are present in early childhood, although diagnosis is often later in childhood, adolescence or adulthood.
-Autism is a spectrum with a diverse set of neurodiverse conditions. This means that Autism is different for everyone.
-Many autistic people experience high levels of anxiety. This may present in diverse ways.
