Week 6: Task Meaningfulness PA coupling Flashcards

1
Q

What is the importance of P-A coupling in sport. Give some examples.

A

P-A is important when implementing in training as it gives practice more reality. It is said that in training as the action of motion is reduced the accuracy of the action is reduced as well. Therefore, it is essential that in practice, P-A coupling is not broken up and part-practice is not recommended.

Q

How do experts and novices respond differently to deceptive movements?

A

Experts: looks at the honest movement signal (CoM)

Novices: deceptive movement signals (upper trunk yaw and out-foot placement)

Experts waited significantly longer thus picking up more information and few errors.

Q

How do we get a full-colour, continuours impression of the world, without blur and gaps?

A

Active process: Eye movements (Saccades, micro-saccades, smooth pursuit, vergence, vestibulo-ocular reflex)

Q

Why is it not as simple as to just tell what the learner should do such as look at the honest movements?

A

There is a need to practice over and over to activate the dorsal pathway.

Vision for action pathway for pathway for quick, intuitive, automatic guidance of movement

Vision for recognition pathway that processes vidual information more slowly, consciously by linking the information to what is stored in memory.
