Week 6 Lectures Flashcards

1
Q

What is INSEER?

A

webplatform that allows for evaluation of tasks for MSI hazards (awkward posture, forces, repetition, etc.)
- AI powered
- upload video footage
- uses 250 data points to map the body
- up to 10 people in one footage

Q

What is the purpose of the composite score?

A

Purpose: help to understand the activities with the worst joint angles in a facility

Q

What are the limitations with INSEER?

A
  • accuracy of awkward posture calculations depend on person filming at exactly at 45 degrees

still require a push /pull guage for push/pull force analysis

composite score only takes into consideration joint angles and not force

Q

What is RULA
- purpose
- validity
- reliability

A

rapid upper limb assessment

Developed to “rapidly” evaluate the exposure
of individual workers to ergonomic risk factors
associated with upper extremity MSD.

Considers biomechanical and postural load
requirements of job tasks/demands on the
neck, trunk and upper extremities.

Assesses a snapshot of work. Done on one posture at one period of time

Predictive validity is high for neck and lower arm
Predictive validity is low for upper arm and wrist
Combination of posture scores a and B has high validity for all functional units
Interrater reliability is high

Q

Revised job strain index
- purpose
- validity
- reliability

A

Severity index (SI) is a score value based on multiple of five variables

RSI = IM * EM * DM * PM * HM

  • IM = Intensity multiplier
  • EM = (effort per minute) Frequency multiplier
  • DM – Duration Multiplier
  • PM = Posture Multiplier
  • HM = Hours Multiplier

If score is greater than 10, high risk

Strong predictive validity

Good to strong interrater reliability

3D SSPP
- purpose

Strengths

Limitations

Reliability and validity

A

predicts static strength requirements for tasks such as lifts, presses, pushes, and pulls. The program provides an approximate job simulation that includes posture data, force parameters and male/ female anthropometry. Output includes the percentage of men and women who have the strength to perform the described job (% of population capable), spinal compression forces, and data comparisons to NIOSH guidelines

Strengths:
- Can simulate it on various populations (including male and female)
- Very visual for a client
- can generate strength capabilities report
- can help with predicting fatigue by calculating % max of duty cycle

Limitations:
- When you’re looking at the upper limb, this model doesn’t take into account scapular rhythm (how scap moves with gH joint)
- Static postures assessment only

Good predictive reliability for static strengths andjoint strengths
Poor validity for upper limb and shoulder
