Central Idea
is the central, unifying element of the story, which ties together all of the other elements of fiction used by the author to tell the story.
Details
an individual feature, fact, or item.
Summarize
give a brief statement of the main points of (something).
Extend
cause to cover a larger area; make longer or wider.
Broadened
become larger in distance from side to side; widen.
Informational Text
is nonfiction writing, written with the intention of informing the reader about a specific topic.
Close Read
is thoughtful, critical analysis of a text that focuses on significant details or patterns in order to develop a deep, precise understanding of the text’s form, craft, meanings, etc.
Objective Summary
is a short statement or paragraph that tells what something is about but does not include irrelevant details or your opinions.
Hints
a slight or indirect indication or suggestion.
