Types of massage
A
Effleurage: Light strokes to warm up the skin.
Tapotement: Rapid strokes, slapping and cupping to stimulate muscle fibres.
Trigger Point Therapy: Identifying them and applying deep and sustained pressure in one area for few seconds.
Petrissage: Picking up strokes, kneading, wringing, skin rolling, to free up muscle fibres.

Contraindications to massage
A
- Cancer
- Pregnant (first 12 weeks)
- High or low blood pressure
- Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
- Open wounds
- Severe bruising
- Fractures
- Skin infections
- Varicose veins
