Cohort

Constrictive pyramid
A type of population pyramid that shows a low percentage of young people

Expansive pyramid
A population pyramid with the broad base that indicates a rapid rate of growth in population due to a high proportion of children
Graying population
A population where the people are typically older since the country has both a low birth rate and a low death rate
Mortality rate
The measure of the number of deaths in a particular population in relation to the size of the population
Population density
The number of people living in a particular unit of space
Population distribution
The arrangement of the people within a particular unit of space
Population pyramid
Graphical illustrations that depict the distribution of carious age groups within a particular human population
Stationary pyramid
A type of population pyramid that depicts low mortality and low fertility and is similar to the constrictive pyramid
Stable pyramid
A type of population pyramid that shows a pattern of mortality and fertility that is unchanging
Total fertility rate
The total number of children a woman is typically expected to have during her child-bearing years, based on the current birth rates

An American demographer who developed a demographic history by studying the mortality and birth rates in industrialized societies for a period of 200 years.
