what is Anorexia Cachexia?
Anorexia: reduced appetite
Cachexia: Complex metabolic syndrome characterized by loss of muscle with or without fat loss (often observed by weight loss)
what is Cachexia specifically?
-inflammation
- Insulin resistance (not necessarily DM II)
- fatigue
-anorexia
why do people who have cachexia not want to eat?
- because food doesn’t help (doesn’t help gain weight)
- fatigue
What’s the most important way we can support someone with metabolic syndrome?
Psychosocial support
What are toxic/metabolic stimuli to the emetic centre?
Drugs
