- Rectal bleeding
- Change in Bowel habits
- Anaemia
- Abdominal Pain

Modifiable risk factors for colorectal cancer:
- Diet

Syndromes that increase risk of colorectal cancer:
• FAP and HNPCC
Principal screening test for colorectal cancer:
Faecal occult blood test (FOBT)
• if positive, colonoscopy to investigate bleeding, full blood examination, rectal examination
What staging tools are used for colorectal gal cancer?
ACPS and pTNM.
Stage A/1 cancer:
- Localised within the bowel
* 88% 5-year survival
Stage B/2 cancer?
- Penetrates bowel wall
* 70% 5-year survival
Stage C/3 cancer:
- Regional nodal involvement
* 43% 5-year survival
Stage D/4 cancer:
- Distant metastasis
* 7% 5-year survival
Supportive care needs for colorectal patients:
• Psychosocial patient support
Colorectal patient goals on initial diagnosis:
- Remove cancer
- Manager cancer and treatment related symptoms
- Improve lifestyle factors
Nursing and collab interventions after diagnosis:
- Surgery
- Chemotherapy
- Pain management
- Patient education

Neutropenia patients:
Fever considered medical emergency due to systemic compromise and can cause septic shock.
