WEEK 5 Flashcards
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MITOSIS VS MEIOSIS
MITOSIS
- All cells, including germline cells
- 2 cells produced
- How do the chromosomes line up at the middle of the cell before first division?
- Identical
- Diploid
- Sequence of cell division occurs once
MEIOSIS
- Germline cells
- 4 cells produced
- How do the chromosomes line up at the middle of the cell before first division?
- Not independent from eachother, they are paired
- Genetically different
- Haploid
- Sequence of cell division occurs twice
NECROSIS VS APOPTOSIS
NECROSIS
- Cell size- swells up
- Nucleus-
- Plasma membrane- not intact, so cell contents spill out
- Cellular contents- spill out
- Adjacent inflammation
- Physiology or pathology- pathology
- Bruising, trauma
APOPTOSIS
- Cell size-shrinks
- Nucleus- nuclear fragmentation, shrinks bcos chromatin condenses
- Plasma membrane- blebs form, always intact
- Cellular contents- doesn’t spill out
- Adjacent inflammation- none
- Physiology or pathology- both
- Tadpole into frog
