COPD =chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, people have difficulty fully exhaling, patients are on oxygen ,patients often have lower pulse.There are two main types of COPD chronic bronchitis, Emphysema.
CBC =complete blood count, is the most common blood test performed, it measures the types and numbers of cells in the blood, including red and white cells platelet. this test is used to determine general health status.
CBG=capillary blood glucose. this order is typically to have blood sugar control with patients with diabetes or risk.I must to use the machine to record level of sugar, documents and report changes to RN.
CVA =cerebrovascular accident/ stroke, lock of blood supply to the brain, deprives brain oxygen and nutrients, due to blood clots, due to brain bleed… Recognize signs, facial weakness, arm weakness, speech difficulties and report immediately.
TKA = Total knee. arthroplasty, use cpm machine make sure secure in bed and do not adjust settings, notify nurse if the patient reports pain.
CABG =coronary Artery Bypass Graft, A vein is harvested from the patients leg and is sewn around the blocked part of the heart to reestablish blood flow to the cardiac tissue.
SCD =Sequential Compression Divice, is a method to prevent blood clots when the patients are in bed, I must be applied correctly and documented.
MI = Myocardial Infarction, lack of blood flow to coronary arteries limits oxygen and nutrients to the heart muscles, report signs, changes in VS, new pain or swelling in a extremity, monitor ECG changes and collect labs.
DNA = Do not announce, means the patients is in the hospital anonymously, we do not acknowledge they are there to anyone inquiring.
BKA = Bellow knee amputation …
