Impudent, not showing respect, disrespectful ( I acted brash when I met someone I disliked yesterday)

To sneer at (my sister scoffs at me when I make a mistake)

Make it seem less important, as a insult
(My old dog tried to belittle by newer dog, until one day my newer dog belittled her back)

Easing of grief
When my dog died it was the opposite of solace because she was just a puppy.

Candidate for high position/anything

I think the flavor is the dregs of cough drops
