Sample
the subset of the population from which you are actually collecting data.
Parameter
A numerical result summarizing a population (e.g., mean, proportion).
Sampling unit
The individuals or groups included in the study.
Census
an official count or survey of the whole population
Sampling frame
the list of units from which a sample will be drawn
Population
the list of units from which a sample will be drawn
Sampling frame
A collection of all items (of a group). The total number of people (or items) that could be sampled.
Sampling distribution
A distribution created by drawing many random samples from the same population.
A statistic
is a characteristic or measure obtained by using the data values from a sample.
