Multi-layered muscle which attaches to the upper and lower lip

Is a fold of mucous membrane connecting the ventral tongue to the floor of the mouth
Purpose of saliva
For comfort, lubricates the mouth as you chew and swallow, and neutralizes harmful acids

Helps form the base and lateral side of the skull in combination with the orbital floor
