Week 3 - Hydro-electric Power Flashcards

1
Q

How does an impulse turbine work?

A

-changes the velocity of a water jet
-jet pushes turbines curved blades which changes direction of the flow.

  • pressure doesn’t change in this system.

-resulting in change in momentum causes a force on the turbine blade
