What is the FIGO staging system used for?
Staging of gynaecological cancers
What is a FIGO stage 4 carcinoma in Cervical Cancer?
Carcinoma having Metastasised to distant organs.
What is a FIGO staging of 1A and B in Ovarian Cancer?
Cancer confined to 1 ovary (1A) or Confined to both Ovaries (1B)
What would a FIGO staging of 2A and B look like in Ovarian Cancer?
Extension or Implants in the uterus or Fallopian tube - 1A
Extension or Implants to other pelvic intraperitoneam.- 1B
What Would a stage 3 Ovarian Cancer look like? (FIGO Stage 3)
3A - Mets to Retroperitoneal Lymph nodes.
3B - Macroscopic peritoneal metastasis beyond pelvis up to 2cm in dimension.
3C - Macroscopic peritoneal metastasis >2cm in dimension.
How is Coverage Calculated when considering screening?

Screened population/Eligible Population x 100.
= Coverage percentage.
What type of Cancer is a Choriocarcinoma?
Aggressive Cancer of the Uterus known as a Gestational trophoblastic tumour as it can occur after pregnancy, its rare.
Can occur after normal pregnancy if the cells left behind become cancerous, but it more commonly occurs after molar pregnancy.
Can a Large Endometriotic (chocolate) cyst present with a pelvic mass and High CA125 level?
Yes.
It is not usually asymptomatic.
How may a fibroid uterus present?
An enlarged, firm, tender uterus.
With urinary Urgency, frequency or Incontinence.(due to compression)
Is a Uterine Leiomyoma associated with a High Ca125 level?
No it usually has no effect on CA125.
But sometimes can raise it.
What are Uterine Leiomyomas (Fibroids)?
Benign Tumour of smooth muscle.
There are often Multiple.
They can present with menorrhagia.
Growth is Oestrogen Dependant.
Regarding endometriosis, is Ovarian endometriosis common or not?
Not common.
Which Muscle Covers the Majority of the Pelvic Side wall?
- Coccygeus.
- levator Ani.
- Obturator Internus
- Piriformis.
- Puborectalis.
