week 3 Flashcards
(9 cards)
which develops first, acc and vergence or oculomotor?
acc and vergence are first
Control centers of pursuits are at the:
supranuclear control is? ipsi or contra?
occipitoparietal junction
Occipitoparietal>midbrain>nuclei of EOMs
Supranuclear control of pursuits is ipsilateral
Control centers of saccades are in the:
frontal eye fields
Frontal eye fields>midbrain pons>nuclei of EOMs
Supranuclear control of saccades is contralateral
what is cogwheeling?
step like movements instead of pursuits
what should be cause of cogwheeling?
- Basal ganlia disease
- Parkinson’s disease (rigidity, tremors, DA deficiency)
- Cerebellar disease
what might cause truncated saccades?
myasthenia gravis
what could cause too fast saccadic velocity?
Could be caused by INO (lesion in the MLF, affected eye cannot adduct, unaffected eye will abduct w/ nystagmus)
give an example of inappropriate saccades
Saccadic intrusion syndrome (disrupts fixation)
most common saccadic inaccuracy?
undershoots
*overshoots much less common
