5 Elements of Visuals and describe them
Line- add visual form
Space - between, around, between
Color - describes values through tints and shades
Shapes - always 2d and ones that fit the situation
Movements - creates sense of flow
What is the benefit of a static image?
you control the story your visuals show
name 7 of the 9 elements of design and give a description of each
Balance - you want to make sure visuals have form, not all the graphics are spaces out differently.
Emphasis- what do you want the stakeholder to focus on ?
Movement - could be referring to live graphics or how one would read the visuals
Pattern - You want to use similar shapes and sizing through the visual
Proportions- You want to make sure the segments have the appropriate sizing, 40% in a pie chart should be double the size of a part that is 20%
Unity- Does everything tie together nicely
What should I ask myself when picking a form of visual ?
which visual will serve my need and make my point easily to stakeholders
What type of chart is used for showing change over a time period ?
line, bar and area
What chart is good for comparing between objects
Grouped Bar
What chart is good for percentages of a whole
pie, donut, tree maps
what graphs are good for relationships
scatterplot, heat map
What are the 3 elements of effective visuals
Clear meaning
Sophisticated use of content -are you able to separate the most important data with your eyes

Empathize - here you will try and get into the eyes of the stakeholders
Define - Define needs, goals of the visual
ideate - come up with ideas of how you will accomplish empathize and define stages with your visuals
prototype- make multiple version
test- test out the final version
