Why did they move from cattle ranching to sheep heading?
It was less harmful to the land and they ate anything.
What is ranching?
When cattle was raised on land that use to be for buffalo and destroy the land.
What is Comstock Lode?
The tomb of the forest of the mt.
When there was a gold rush… Ppl moved there… Then it was gone… Ppl left and place was destroyed.
What is the homestead act?
It was the large migration to the west
Ppl wanted a fresh start and we’re told the west was perfect for that.
What is the deal with women in the west?
Women out numbered men and
When men left them they became homesteaders… (Providers)
What is dry farming?
When they would dig deep in to the ground to get water and then the wind would blow away the top soil and the land would become useless.
What is the Indian problem?
Indians need to assimilate!
Americans did horrible things to make them assimilate
Sent children to American boarding schools
Americans tried to kill them off
What was the Dawes Severity Act?
Was brought in to get rid of reservations
Broke up reservations in to plots of land for each individual Indian
Wanted to assimilate them to American ways
What was the battle of the little big horn?
It is when the Sue Indians kill all Americans that come after them
It was the last Indian military rebellion
What was wounded knee
A huge Indian massacre
When Indians were found dancing and Americans killed them.
