What are community health nurses?
C’est une pratique infirmière spécialisée qui s’implique à préserver, protéger, promouvoir et maintenir la santé du client. Ils travaillent AVEC les gens, pas seulement POUR les gens, dans la collecte de données, la planification, l’intervention et l’évaluation
L’infirmière en santé communautaire travaille où?

What is a military nurses?
The title for a military nurse is a nursing officer who is a commissioned member of the Canadian forces medical service
What are the roles/functions of the military nurse?
- Focuses on sick and injured patients in either static facilities (i.e., garrison, base, or wing in a healthcare centre) but also in operational facilities (i.e., field hospital).

What are the roles/functions of the parish nurse?

When was parish nursing recognized in Canada and who was the founder?
First seen in 1992 when reverend Granger Westberg the founder of parish nursing, realized that the skill set of nurses had a great impact to the health of people in faith communities

What is a Telehealth nurse??
Support services across a spectrum of health services (which includes health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment) using computer-assisted and digital communication technologies, which facilitates to increase access to health care services and enhance coordination of services across the continuum of care
What is the work setting of the Telehealth nurse?
a variety of health care services delivered through computer-assisted and digital communication technologies (there is also an overlap with PHN and HHN roles)
What are the roles/functions of the Telehealth nurse?
- Health assessment

What is the goal of the Telehealth nurse?
self-care management and support for the patient living in the community
What are outreach/street nurses?
Mostly secondary and tertiary healthcare services with people who are homeless
What is the work setting of the outreach nurse?
streets, parks, homeless shelters, drop-in shelters - basically providing derives to patients where ever they are

When did outreach/street nurses become more well know and when?
they were more well known after WWII when the rates of STIs emerged
What is a community mental health nurse?
Mental health care of people with serious mental illness living in the community, in collaboration with caregivers and the mental health care team

What is the work setting of the community health nurse?

After the deinstitutionalization of people with mental illness (but did not really occur until the 1980s when the focus was adjusted and programs were initiated)
What is a primary care nurse?
Episodic and chronic care across the lifespan in collaboration with physician and allied health team members

- Health promotion, injury and disease prevention, and management

Nursing care and forensic sciences in the judicial system

promotes, protects, and preserves the health of populations, links the health and illness experiences of individuals, families, and communities to population health promotion

What is a home health nurse?

Definition of risk communication
a strategic health education intervention that involves exchanging information on the potential harm of health or environmental hazards to risk assessors and managers, general public, news media, social media, and interest groups (a means of mitigating risk or preventing harm)
